EXPERTISE
ABOUT
InterNature is a consultancy firm for biodiversity conservation across the globe. Aline Kühl-Stenzel (PhD, MA, MSc, BA (Hons)) founded InterNature in 2019 to pursue her passion. Depending on the needs of the client, we bring in additional experts from our network.
Aline is an interdisciplinary biologist trained at Oxford University with more than 15 years’ experience in international conservation science and policy, in both land and marine ecosystems. From 2008 - 2018 Aline was coordinating different international environmental projects and agreements for the United Nations Environment Programme, primarily under the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) where she served in the science unit and as Terrestrial Species Coordinator. In 2012/2013 Aline worked for the UNEP Mediterranean Action Plan in Tunisia, where she assisted the development of Marine Protected Areas in the open seas of the Mediterranean. Most recently Aline coordinated a treaty for whale and dolphin conservation in Pan-European waters (ASCOBANS).
Aline has an MSc and PhD from Imperial College London focussed on the conservation ecology of the critically endangered saiga antelope. Aline’s research interests are broad ranging from hermaphrodites to harbour porpoises and international environmental governance. Together with fellow saiga antelope researchers, Aline co-founded the Saiga Conservation Alliance in 2006, an NGO aimed at restoring saiga populations throughout their range in Central Asia and the Russian Federation. Aline enjoys communicating science and conservation stories – she is a regular public speaker and has co-authored and presented in several environmental documentary films.
